More Info About The Tungsten Metal From Wikipedia

Eight years a ago I bought my husband a nice white gold ring when we got married, and he was always in trouble for not wearing it. His excuse was that he was afraid of bending it at the gym while lifting weights. He is a Crossfit gym owner/trainer. So... I bought him this durable cz ruby tungsten men's ring to call his bluff, and guess what?? He wears the thing everyday! He absolutely loves it. It's the perfect width and he actually likes the fact that it's slightly a shade darker then white gold. It looks expensive and he has no idea how much I paid for it. This is the perfect ring for all those die hard gym freaks, it will not bend!

This was a replacement tungsten wedding ring and as previous posters have said, it has a high shine and seems unscratchable. The inlay engagement rings is a gunmetal color, true to what I see on my monitor, which we love, but it definitely does not look like white gold or platinum if you're trying to pass it off as a pricier metal. If you are looking for something that looks new despite years of abuse and hard wear and is strong enough to be used in rockets to the moon, this is the metal band to buy first time around. Here's more info about the metal from Wikipedia:

Tungsten ... is used to make wear-resistant abrasives and cutters and knives for drills, circular saws, milling and turning tools used by the metalworking, woodworking, mining, petroleum and construction industries. Tungsten carbide's high melting point makes tungsten a good material for applications like rocket nozzles, for example in the UGM-27 Polaris Submarine-launched ballistic missile.

Tungsten alloys have also been used in cannon shells, grenades and missiles, to create supersonic shrapnel. Tungsten has also been used in Dense Inert Metal Explosives, which use it as dense powder to reduce collateral damage while increasing the lethality of explosives within a small radius.

Applications requiring its high density include ballast keels for yachts, tail ballast for commercial aircraft, and as ballast in race cars for NASCAR and Formula One. Its density, similar to that of gold, allows tungsten to be used in jewelry as an alternative to gold or platinum. Its hardness makes it ideal for tungsten carbide rings that will resist scratching, are hypoallergenic, and will not need polishing, which is especially useful in designs with a brushed finish.

Good luck!
