Clayton Center for the Arts is hosting one final and extraordinary event for 2010, a New Year’s Eve Gala dinner, dance and fundraiser.
“It has been a year of monumental achievement and generosity, a year that should not slip away without due notice, and we have the most luxurious evening planned to pay tribute to 2010 and welcome 2011," said Robert Hutchens, executive director for the Clayton Center for the Arts.
The elegant evening of dinner, dancing and celebrating to ring in the New Year begins at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 31, in the William Baxter Lee III Grand Foyer. The feature for the evening is the Sentimental Journey Orchestra of Atlanta, an ensemble of 17 instrumentalists and two vocalists. The orchestra features the music of the Big Band Era and other tunes from the ensuing years.
In addition to tunes made popular by Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey and Count Basie, the orchestra will perform show tunes from Broadway, sambas, cha-chas, tangos and waltzes, among others.
