My wedding ring

My husband lost his black tungsten mens ring for the second time. The last tungsten promise ring I had to replace, I purchased a little over a year ago for $60.00. Now I had to replace that one. Before looking online, we shopped our local jewelers and every single store had this type of tungsten carbide ring listed at $888 or more. We couldn't believe the price went up that much over just a year. So we decided to try our luck online and found this commemorate ring listed at a great price. We received the carbide ring today and we our very happy with our purchase. We even like it better than his last two  carbide tungsten rings. We prefer the matte finish, but the little bit of polish on the sides adds a nice touch. It is a heavy, sturdy, well crafted ring. The photo is very close to the actual love ring, but it does look better in person.

I got married in 2006, and back then I never knew of Tungsten Carbide as a ring material. I don't wear gold jewelry so I chose Platinum, and my original wedding band cost around $700, which is $1200+ in today's money (and Platinum value).

The problem with Platinum though is that it quickly dulls and gets fine scratches on it, and before you know it it looks like cheap silver. You end up having to clean it all the time to make it look good. Don't get me wrong, the day it is clean, it looks amazing. Kinda like a black car. But it quickly loses that luster, which is annoying.

Several months ago I got so fed up with cleaning my Platinum ring, that I got a simple domed comfort fit Tungsten wedding band for less than a hundred dollars, and I was very pleased with it. Always looks shiny, cannot be scratched in normal use, and just looks great. But I ordered a size too small, so it was a little tight.

So given the amazing value of Tungsten as a ring material I ordered this one. The company is great, they ship very quickly, and I got the package long before they estimated.

The great thing about Tungsten is not only is it much cheaper than other metals, it always looks as good as the day you bought it. You can wear it every day, knock it into things, do stuff that would scratch the heck out of a Gold or Platinum ring, and it looks unblemished. You just can't beat that rugged finish in my book.

As for this specific model, it's comfortable to wear. The inside is smooth and nicely convex to fit comfortably on the finger. The edges are smooth and don't dig into the finger, which is important. The two angled edges are shiny and give the tungsten mens ring character. The brushed look of the main mens tungsten ring looks sophisticated, especially accented with the polished portions.

Frankly, the only reason I didn't go five stars is that the satin brushed portion looks a little grayer than the picture, which makes it look a little more like Titanium than I would have liked. But that is being pedantic, and really if I had the choice I'd have given 4.5 stars. At the end of the day, the price of this product, and similar, is unbeatable. I'd have to pay easily 50 times what I paid for this to get something similar in Platinum, and it just wouldn't be worth it to me. Especially given the tedious upkeep of Platinum.

Actual Love Wedding Rings

I bought this ring because my actual wedding ring is white gold. It is so soft that it started getting small scuffs and scratches right away, but at first these marks just gave it character. Recently, though (after about two years) it's started looking a bit dull and worn. I was told by a jeweler that polishing a white ceramic ring is a complicated process that involves actually applying more metal, and that it would take some time. Honestly, I don't like the idea of not wearing my Celtic Tungsten Carbide Ring for a few days (it just feels weird) so I decided to get a substitute to wear while it was gone.

I also had an opportunity to start a new job which may involve using my hands a bit more, and I realized that this would damage the cheap Ceramic wedding Ring even faster, and at the same time I started worrying about possibly losing the Noblest tungsten ring altogether.

Long story short, I decided on this Ceramic celebration ring because it was attractive, the same color as my real love ring, and much more resistant to damage. I decided to start wearing this Celtic Knot Tungsten Wedding Ring day-to-day and saving the original tungsten ring for special occasions. I've been wearing the new tungsten steel ring for a few months now, and it's been fantastic.

First of all the great ceramic ring is gorgeous. It catches the light brilliantly on its polished surfaces, and it is so strong that it doesn't have a single scratch to dim the dazzle. I should clarify that I am pretty rough on my jewelry, so the fact that it hasn't scratched or chipped or bent (even a little) is a minor miracle. It has a satisfying weight to it, and is slightly wider than my ceramic wedding ring, so it feels really substantial.

My only real complaint is the matte area. It is matte because of a "brushed" texture, which means that it is very rough to the touch. At first I assumed that this would smooth out a bit over time, but since the metal is so hard it still feels the same as it did the first day. I suspect you could use this part of the ring as a fine-grit sandpaper if you wanted to. So far it has not injured my other fingers, but I am still very conscious of the signet ring when I hold my baby (6 months) or do anything else that requires a gentle touch. Not a deal-breaker, but something to consider.

All-in-all, a great ring. If you want something good looking and durable, you need look no further.

It is my love ring

You can't go wrong with this tungsten ring. First, I'll speak to the sizing issues people seem to be having with these ceramic or tungsten rings: I was accurately sized at a jeweler using a flat sizing tungsten carbide ring (not comfort-fit) of a slightly smaller women's tungsten ring width (6mm). I calipered this carbide ring at exactly 8mm wide. Due to the comfort-fit on the especial ring (i.e. curved inside from edge to edge to avoid sharp edges), the sizing ring was an accurate representation of how this black tungsten steel ring would feel. Don't do the string or paper strip method to get your simple rings size. I was professionally sized as an 11. I tried the paper method, just for kicks, and could not even slip a size 12 paper ring onto my finger.

Metal does not behave the same as paper! If you're worried about the jeweler not wanting to size you, just tell him/her that you need to know your size so your wife can come back and buy you a ring. while you're there, take a look at the tungsten rings they have, and you'll get an idea of what they're like so you can come back here and buy it for less. I ordered a size 11, and the ring I received has a calipered inside diameter of 0.81" (USA size 11 is 0.81" i.d. on wikipedia). Their sizing is accurate!

Next, quality: I have an 8x loupe for photography and could find no flaws. The surface is smooth and highly polished, so fingerprints will show if someone is looking at your totally different rings from closer than 2 feet away. None of my friends stare at my fingers from 2 feet, so no issue there. Beyond 2 feet, it just looks fantastic.

Next, physical characteristics: Tungsten is heavy. Makes for great darts, they can be nice and skinny so you can hit closer groupings. On a ring, it does add weight if you're used to lighter metals. I'm replacing a titanium ring, so my ring weight has increased, but not uncomfortably as you might experience with a large watch. Tungsten is about 4 times the density of titanium, but only 2.5% more dense than gold and 8.5% less dense than platinum (also less dense than plutonium, but I don't think you can get a ring of plutonium). The width of the shell inlay ring is comfortable, and pretty standard for a man's wedding band. I have medium-sized hands and this ring is comfortable. The thickness of this band (0.088") is the same as my previous two titanium wedding bands (Synapse at 0.088" thick, Geomatrix Bevel at 0.09" thick).

Comparison to image: Pretty much spot-on. I think they may have used a size 8 or 9, so my size 11 is only very slightly proportionally thinner. Either way, it's a given that you're getting an 8mm wide band.

Value: I compared this style  tungsten carbide ring to one offered at the local jewelry store for $300. I also looked at the black carbon fiber version, but was hesitant due to the potential weakness of the epoxy. I like to abuse my ceramic or tungsten rings, so opted for solid tungsten. The box is simple cardboard with a foam holder (albeit with a felt top on the foam to give it a tiny bit more class than foam). The photo accurately depicts the box, which has no leather anywhere. Don't buy this ring for the box. Buy it for the Grooved Tungsten Ring.

As soon as I received this black tungsten ring, I ran it through a gauntlet of abuse. From turning wrenches to sanding it on a concrete floor it has remained flawless. For about a week I have constantly abused it with the worst consequence being finger prints. I spoke to local jewelers before purchasing and a similar ring was prices $300 - $480 (depending on the jeweler).

They explained to me that the difference in price was the quality of the metal. Jewelry grade tungsten vs. industrial grade tungsten carbide rings. Don't buy into that B.S. It is cobalt free tungsten carbide steel and the only real difference is the markup. The picture above is slightly deceiving though. The finish is mirror and the color is a darker "stone" color. I ordered a half size larger than my normal size and it fits perfect (regardless of the comfort fit).

Like the other review, was very kind when I ordered the wrong size ceramic or tungsten ring and worked with me to swap it out for the correct size. They got the correct ring back to me fast! The ring looks perfect and love the design! Will definitely order with them again when I order another tungsten ring inset ceramic!

My husband and I were married 11 years ago and at the time, he chose a yellow gold ring with a white gold overlay. Even for that time, it was fairly expensive. Not only have the styles in men's ceramic rings changed, the ceramic ring also lost its white gold finish and appeared to be just a yellow gold ring. My husband usually wears silver so he was no longer happy with the original tungsten steel ring.

I had heard some good things about the Tungsten rings and thought I would look into replacing my hubby's ring as a Christmas present. This particular ring was a GREAT choice. It is 8mm so it is more bulky and "tougher" looking than most others. In addition, my husband has large fingers so this ring looks great on him. It is also very strong so I don't worry about him scratching and dinging it. He really likes it too.

Best of all, the price! I looked at similar promise tungston rings on other sites and didn't find one under $125 so this Amazon price is a steal. The shipping was also very fast!

The only thing I would warn you about is that this unique ring cannot be sized so be sure you know exactly what size you need before ordering. I found a ring size chart on line and printed it. I then took his old wedding ring and layed it on top of the size chart to see what size I needed to order. It worked and is a perfect fit!
